Jason Webley Inspires

Beginning March 1, we're pleased to announce the addition of an ongoing series in the Night Garden: we call it Inspiration. It's an opportunity to get inspired, collaborate, and help us raise money for Great Lakes Bengal Rescue.

Every couple of months we will feature a new guest artist under the Inspiration tab in the sidebar (that will appear March 1, when we post our first guest's contribution). Each guest artist will contribute a piece of art, and you'll be invited to respond with original art of your own: anything, in any medium, whatever the guest artist's piece brings out in you. Give it form, then show it to us! Write stuff. Photograph stuff. Draw stuff. Cook stuff. Make a bracelet. Knit some socks. Put on a puppet show. Listen to what the piece says to you, then say something back.

Our first guest artist in the series is the wonderful Jason Webley, who has also offered to give away a signed CD copy of his album Against the Night to whomever donates the greatest amount to Great Lakes Bengal Rescue by the submission deadline. Join us March 1st, and get inspired!

THE RULES: The name of the game is collaborative conversation. We seek creative responses inspired by the piece, not derivative works. Only original artwork will be accepted. Any genre, medium, or form is fine, but it must be all your own work. No part, portion, or sample of our guest artists' contributions may be used in your submitted piece; derivative works will be considered ineligible for submission.

WHAT TO SEND IN: Web links or files. Submitted pieces must be in a digital format, regardless of your chosen medium. Submit visual and craft art pieces in .jpg or .gif format only. Individual file sizes should not exceed 800kB.

Acceptable file formats for written submissions include .txt, .rtf, .odt, .doc, or may be pasted directly into the body of your email. Entries will appear in the gallery as they're received.

THE DEADLINE: Entries for the first round in our series will be accepted beginning March 1, 2011 through April 30, 2011.

THE GIVEAWAY: To qualify, donations must be received by Great Lakes Bengal Rescue no later than midnight April 30, 2011. Donations may be made via PayPal or send a check payable in US dollars to:
